Happy Thanksgiving

The Antiplanner wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, especially the non-elites who made a big difference in the recent election. When I was doing research for my 2012 book, American Nightmare, I realized that land-use regulation and many other things I had been seeing were best understood as a form of economic warfare on the working class. So I am thankful that, this month, the working class scored a point in that war, or in fact 290 of them.

We naturally hope it doesn’t turn out that we’ve been fooled again. One positive sign is President-elect Trump’s offer of HUD secretary to Ben Carson, who understands that the same policies that oppress the white working class harm blacks and Latinos as well.

Nothing screams working class more than voting for a billionaire who reveived taxpayer bailouts and who tried to steal a widow’s house.

Unfortunately Trump will probably use the Presidency to transfer as much wealth as possible to Trump industries through his assets controlled by his children. He will probably also start borrowing and spending as much as congress will let him while reducing taxes on the the very wealthy. A tactic of holding firms is to have a subsidiary firm borrow as much as possible, transfer as much of that to the holding company as possible, then move on letting the subsidiary go bankrupt. Unfortunately Trump will probably allow the Federal government to borrow as much as possible. Then syphon off as much as possible into Trump industries, and after four to eight years walk away. He does not have to pay back the Federal debt and does not pay Federal taxes, so this is only a gain for him personally. Many in the top 0.1% will also gain from this.

Then to maintain his popularity escalate military activity and increase the fear level of terrorist or other action. He will claim he is the only leader tough enough to protect the United States. I hope I am wrong,. Time will tell.

Isn’t Ben Carson the guy who benefited from welfare, food stamps, Pell Grants and a Government program that gave him free eye glasses but then claims entintlment programs keep people dependent on the government.

Claims of Carson living on welfare are mixed, see:

Ben Carson is a Seventh-Day Adventist. They believe the world is only 6,000 years old and that dinosaurs are the result of Satan “amalgamating” lizards and other animals. They are a a cult. He is in La La land. I say this as someone who was thankfully able to escape the cult.

THIS is your “government” ladies and gentlemen.
