Back in the Air Again: Book Tour Begins!

The Antiplanner is spending this week on the road. First, I’ll be participating in a John Stossel show on energy issues. It’s a big topic, so I’ll be lucky to get a 30-second sound bite. The show will appear on the Fox Business network at 8 pm (ET) on Thursday.

Wednesday, I’ll be presenting my book, Gridlock, at the Cato Institute in Washington. Loyal Antiplanner opponent Michael Replogle and relatively neutral Anthony Downs will provide their candid reviews of the book.

I’ll be joined by Burkhard Huhnke, who has been leading research on driverless cars for Volkswagen America, including the Stanford-Volkswagen entry to the DARPA Urban Challenge and the Volkswagen Auto Innovation Lab, which plans to race a driverless Audi up Pikes Peak.

Friday I’ll be back in the air to Portland, where I’ll present my book at 7:30 pm to a no-doubt friendly audience at Powell’s downtown bookstore. If you are in the Portland area, I look forward to seeing you there.

  1. MJ says:

For future reference, it’s “Capitol Hill”, not “Capital Hill”.

  2. ws says:

Will you be taking the streetcar to the Powell’s in Portland?

  3. MJ,

You are right. Most people overuse “capitol” (for example, the city that is the seat of government is the capital, not the capitol), but in this case, ol is correct.

  4. WS,

No, I think a triumphal entry on a Portland streetcar would be a little much.

  5. MJ says:

I was right, but inadvertently. I had thought that both the building and the city within which it is located were referred to as “capitol”. Here is the disambiguation:

THWM: WS, that would be like David Duke partaking in a Passover Seder.
