Today it’s “Preserve the American Dream”, a week ago it was “Reports of the Death of the Suburbs Are Premature”, with you Randal it’s just another day, another contradiction.

I live in a suburb, though to me freedom of mobility is having good public transit options, like a suburban train. At the same time that doesn’t mean I’m against the street in front of my house with people driving on it.

You want your liberties, but don’t deny or obstruct others of their liberties as well.

  2. mattb02 says:

    What contradiction, Highwayman?

You have no idea what Randal is talking about at the conference. Hell, you don’t understand anything of his you have read.

So, based on the NAME OF THE CONFERENCE, you feel able to call Randal on a contradiction?

    Idiot.

  3. D4P says:

Will economist and Antiplanner hero Edward Glaeser be speaking at the conference and sharing findings from his recent study that found that Americans who live in low-density suburbs have a significantly deeper carbon footprint than Americans who live in urban high rises?

“Preserving the American Carbon Footprint: How You Too Can Increase Your Already Much Greater-Than-Average Negative Impact on the Earth and its Resources (But Hey: You’ve Got a Yard! And it’s Green!)”

  4. bennett says:

Here are the sessions I would like to attend 😉

Building Roads in a No New Roads Political Environment
    Effective Tactics for Defending Freedom
Obama’s War on the American Dream
    The Next Transportation Revolution

I guess you have to sprinkle these types of gatherings with some good ole’ fear and conservative rage. Does anyone else see the irony in a conference that has the sessions “Building Roads in a No New Roads Political Environment,” and “The Next Transportation Revolution”??? O’Toole, you should change the name of your presentation to Continuing The Transportation Revolution of the 20th Century.

    mattb02: What contradiction, Highwayman?

THWM: Why then have conference to defend some thing that isn’t even threatened?

This sounds more and more like an organized crime gathering taking place.

  6. ws says:

How can one define the American Dream for another? Highways and McMansions might be some people’s American dream, but not mine. The whole title of the conference seems contradictory to Libertarians’ pursuit of individual pursuit of happiness.

So I don’t agree with what the conference is about, am I against the “American dream”?

  7. chipdouglas says:

I’m in the area as well–definitely want to go, but $259 is pretty steep just for myself, let alone for those I would like to bring who want (or need) it.

  8. the highwayman says:

Some how, I think you could find a better use for $259.

  9. craig says:

What was great about the conference is you had the choice, to go or not and no one forced anyone to pay if they were not going.

The $259.00 included breakfast, lunch and dinners during the event and the motel cost and speakers. Unfortunately we were unable to charge transit supporters to subsidize this event!!

THWM: Though the agenda pushed at this conference was about resticting choice.

THWM: I’m not against the street in front of my house!

THWM: Sounds more like you were tea bagging.
