Back in the Air Again

Today the Antiplanner is flying to Boston and MIT, where I will be one of a series of “distinguished speakers” on transportation issues. My presentation will be at 12:30 pm in the Stratton Student Center, W20-307.

On Wednesday, the Cato Institute will present two events, both of which will compare the Antiplanner’s free-market views with the pro-government transit views of William Millar, the president of the American Public Transportation Association. The first event will be at noon and will be available via web feed and video after the event. The second will take place on Capital Hill and will be at 3:00 pm. Although the events will be structured slightly differently, both will cover similar ground.

One Response to Back in the Air Again

  1. Scott says:

No particular subject today, so I’ll mention some items.

Here’s a story on train safety. Actually, about an accident, or more precisley, a huge explosion.

Upon first reading about it, I thought it was in Portland, but later realized that I read too fast. Sure, I can be accused of partial lexdlysia.

This could be blamed on cars, because oil was being hauled, which would neglect the fact that less than half of oil is distilled (refined) into gasoline, & not all gas is for cars. Don’t forget that most trains’ energy source is petroleum.

Now, for something completely different, from over a month ago:
Did you hear about (no joke setup) the green party candidate [for some local office, in the NE], who got killed riding her bike, by getting hit by an SUV?
Bless her soul, but her foolish riskiness put her in that dangerous situation. It was dark & she was on a major road, in a lane.

More non-car friendliness needed? Who really wants to bike to many places, in the elements, for much distance & carry purchases? Shower often? So many drawbacks. Kunstler thinks that Interstates should be accessible for regular pedestrian & bike usage. That guy sure has a grasp on reality & pragmatism; poster boy for SNAFU, in a cluster way.

Do Canadians support liberty, & are they fearful of the expanding statism, in the US (hopefully past tense now, but much still in motion, still to take effect)?

OMG! They’re white, must be racists, & there are not complaints about illegal Canadian aliens.
