Good luck on your speech. It’s an uphill battle, especially considering the subject you’re addressing. Here is a quote from the Train Riders’ Association of California:

Wasteful transit proposals like this one do nothing but add credence to the even more wasteful automobile lobby whose activities are both sapping the economic vitality of the country and severely damaging its environment.

In other words, they are merely opposing this particular rail project because it makes rail look even more wasteful than it usually does. Notice the vitriol hurled at the automobile, charging that the car has “sapped the economic vitality of the country” and “severely damaged its environment”. Wow. That’s quite an accomplishment for the humble auto!

Though Metrosucks, you don’t have an uphill battle in any way.

Roads are there regardless of economic conditions & regardless of the existence of the automobile.

    Happy travels!

Are you going to talk about Megabus?

  4. the highwayman says:

Frank, the parent company of Megabus(Stagecoach Group) also operates intercity passenger trains & light rail lines in the UK.

Do you think O’Toole would talk about that or conveniently leave that information out?

Enjoyed the whole briefing (too bad your Iphone couldn’t drive the slide show). I was in the second row next to the projectors. I’ll take the time to say “Hi” next time.
