    Interesting that the GM illustrations anticipated that the Interstate system would have full-service service plazas (as can be found on many of the “legacy” toll roads, especially in the East) and not the bare-bones rest areas that are somewhat common along the rest of the system.

    IMO, a huge mistake by Congress to forbid those full-service service plazas (as long as the states put them out for competitive tendering every so often, as the toll road agencies do).
